Surat Thani strengthens its security for Full Moon party
SURAT THANI, 4 January 2015 - Pol Maj Gen Apichart Boonsriroj, Commander of the Surat Thani Provincial Police, has announced that local authorities, military officers, and volunteers are combining efforts to ensure public safety during the Full Moon party to be held tonight ( Sunday ) in Koh Phangan.
A full range of security measures especially weapon and drugs control are being implemented while a great number of tourists from around the world continue to pour into Koh Phangan.
Meanwhile, Koh Samui police are assigned to oversee security around piers and ports and standby for mobilization of the police force to go to Koh Phangan if requested.
Wannee Thaipanit, president of the Tourism Association of Koh Phangan said that Koh Phangan and Koh Tao remain famous destinations for tourists from around the world especially Britons.
A large number of tourists spent their holiday in Thailand over Christmas, New Year and the Full Moon party on Sunday, resulting in the full booking of accommodation on both islands.
